Projects that prepare the way

My latest trip to PNG was fast but productive. We went to continue our upkeep and repairs on the Liberty and support those serving on the ship.

We repaired curtains, built shelving and beds, replaced flooring in cabins (one in particular had experienced a sewage backup). It was gross. In addition to our project list we helped wherever needed, with cleaning, leading worship, preparing meals, etc.

Technology Problems Lead to New Findings

Something amazing happened just before I arrived that reminds me of what this effort is all about. The Liberty sailed to Karkar Island in Madang, Papua New Guinea. In preparations, it was discovered there was a problem with some equipment the team was planning to use for ministry.

While trying to figure out what to do, they came across the Jesus film in the native language of a tribe they were visiting. Three years before a missionary had completed the translation project, but had died before he could show it to the tribe. One of our teams played the Jesus film for the Waskia and Takia people groups. This is the first time ever, the Word of God was heard in their language. Afterwards a pastor wept saying, “I have read and studied the bible all these years in Tok Pisin (the trade language) but there are things I didn’t understand until now, Thank you!”

The Footage

Below is a video from my trip as well as a few photos from recent outreaches. It shows the cargo containers that have been outfitted as various clinics. The video moves fast but gives you an idea of the ship’s layout. You will see people entertained while they stand in line for hours waiting to receive medical care including dental, eye and women’s health. There is also a glimpse of the many opportunities for ministry and prayer with those who attend.

Faces of Impact

I wanted you to be able to see some of the faces of the people whose lives you are forever changing. Thank you for your involvement in Gospel being heard and understood in PNG!
