I’m back from Papua New Guinea!
My time on the Liberty vessel was very good. The team was short-staffed, so I supported the ship directors in a variety of practical ways. I helped with maintenance, shopping, laundry, and assisting the kitchen crew. Much of it was simple, behind-the-scenes work, but it kept things running.
Building Friendships
The best part of this trip was the relationships. I connected with several Papua New Guineans who work on the ship, many of whom are new to following Jesus. We spent time reading the Bible and had many meaningful conversations. Others who are not yet following Him shared how different the environment on the ship feels compared to the commercial vessels they usually work on. They described the Liberty as safer, more enjoyable, and “more like a family.”
Bible Translation Center
While I was there, I also saw progress on a new Oral Bible Translation Center. A warehouse at our dock is being converted into classrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen, café, auditorium, and recording rooms to host Bible translators. As new people groups are contacted, more languages can begin the translation process. Recently, our crew even met someone in Madang from a tribe we have not yet reached. He shared where his people are located so we can find them on a future sail.

Six Salvations
During my final week in PNG, we hosted a movie night on board and showed the Jesus Film. Over 200 people attended, and six people surrendered their lives to Jesus. Since then, weekly Bible studies have begun with those who attended.
Thank you
Thank you for your prayers, giving, and encouragement. I’m grateful for the ways we get to partner in bringing salvation and Bible access to tribes in PNG.
